Who’s Involved?

We’d like to thank the good people at Ornot! These folks have stepped up as a presenting sponsor to help make this thing happen! We couldn’t be more grateful. Ornot is a San Francisco Based cycling apparel company. They create beuatiful apparel for on and off the bike and are an integral part of our cycling community in the Bay Area.

MCBC! These folks are helping so much! MCBC has been involved in the Turkey Hold Em since it’s inception. This is our fourth run and we couldn’t be happier to be working together on this event.

The Marin Museum of Bicycling and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame! One of us is also the executive director of this fine organization so you could say we’re pretty close! This museum showcases the development of the bicycle from it’s inception in the late 1800’s to the most modern machines around. If you like bikes, get over there!

We’ve also received support from the following awesome small businesses and brands!

Splitrock Tap and Wheel

Horizons Cycling

Stinner Frameworks

Kask

Lake

The Lodge - Big Swingin Cycles

So… What is it? Questions??

What is is?

  • A poker run style adventure on bikes. That means there are 5 checkpoints and you build your own route.

What’s the route?

  • … You build your own route. That’s part of the fun.

What are the checkpoints?

  • We’ll tell you the morning of the event. They will be in and around beautiful Mount Tam.

How hard is it?

  • If you complete all the checkpoints, roughly 40 miles with 4k feet of elevation gain.

  • However, if your route is not so well thought out… longer.

Why is it called “Turkey Hold Em”?

  • It started as a Thanksgiving ride. But since it’s still organized by a bunch of turkey’s we kept the name.

  • Yes! We are supporting the Marin Museum of Bicycling and the Marin Bicycle Coalition. All proceeds will be split between these two amazing nonprofit organizations.

What if I can’t complete all the Checkpoints?

I heard there’s a 6th bonus checkpoint, is that true? What’s the deal?

  • Who told you that? Our lips are sealed.

What kind of bike do I need?

  • Gravel, MTB, Hardtail, Adventure. It’s mostly dirt.

I can’t attend the event, how can I support the effort?

  • Please donate to our cause here! (this donation portal is managed by the Marin Museum of Bicycling, your donations will still be split evenly between MCBC and the Museum)

Is this a supported ride?

  • No. Since there’s no defined route, there’s no way to provide support. However, some of the checkpoints will have snacks.

Can I volunteer to help?

  • Yes please! Please email us here for volunteer information.
